Description
Introducing Abbeyview- a comfortable 3 bedroom barn conversion on the outskirts of Whitby town. Set in the glorious North Yorkshire countryside, Abbeyview offers a peaceful stay for a family of 6 and perfect for easily accessing the coastal footpath.
The barn boasts a ground floor double bedroom with en-suite, featuring shower, WC and bath (which can be accessed from the lounge by a lockable door). Abbeyview has a large open plan living room, dining area and kitchen with breakfast bar. All the creature comforts from home are available with microwave, oven, stove top, kettle, toaster, coffee machine and fridge. Flat screen TV, DVD player with a selection of disks and log burner all make for a cosey family night in.
Abbeyview is stacked with character and quirky charm. A small den with sofas and armchair provides views over the rolling fields and hedgerows. The enclosed patio is a sun trap for soaking up the North Yorkshire sunshine, and guests can alfresco dine on the picnic table or outside lounge furniture.
Tucked away on the second floor of Abbeyview is another compact double and twin room. A second family bathroom includes shower, WC and heated towel rail.
Whitby town centre is only a short drive, or you can walk along the stunning coastal footpath to the harbour at the mouth of the River Esk. There’s plenty to see and do for a historical visit to Whitby Abbey or Captain Cook’s Memorial Museum or enjoy watching the sunset on Sandsend beach.
Abbeyview welcomes one small well-behaved dog, but please keep tiny paws off the furniture.

The location of the accommodation is pretty remote, but this adds to its charm. In fact it was the the peace and quiet that we enjoyed SO much. When I say remote, its not at all far from the centre of Whitby. We walked into Whitby within the hour along using the Cleveland Way coastal path, and 40 minutes back along the roadway.
The 'barn / house' is wonderful, lovely and spacious, very well equipped, cosy and warm. It has some super additions, such as the outer enclosed sitting area and the add on 'cabin' with views across the North Yorkshire Moors. We sat (Of course glass of wine in hand!) and watched Barn Owls, Sparrow Hawks and several wild deer that trundled past. Sunset across the Moors .. Wonderful. The roadway leading to the property is well constructed and NOT a track, there is plenty of room for cars to be parked safely off the road. Many walks are on hand, Robin Hoods Bay etc. I can not really fault anything, we had good weather, but I would suggest that even in poor weather it will be warm and cosy and very comfortable. We will be going again. I do thank Finest Retreats as well, they sent out all the information very thoroughly and the info they provided was totally accurate and very helpful. WiFi is very good, phone signal not so good but move about you do get it (Im on O2 which is often pretty rubbish!) I should really keep this quiet as I consider it to be a SUPER 'Find'!!! |
