Accommodation
Description
Tucked away in the peaceful village of Polgooth, just a couple of miles inland from the golden beaches and pretty harbours of the south coast, is Tinners Rest. A generously sized two bedroom ground floor apartment with a welcoming feel, relaxed decor and a delightful conservatory enjoying the sunshine and looking out to the garden. Perfectly located for visiting some of Cornwall's finest attractions, guests will have a splendid selection of places to go and things to do, whatever the weather.
Entering through the front porch, there is plenty of room for coats, shoes, buckets and spades and beach gear. The kitchen is bright, modern and chic, with a dining table to seat four and integrated appliances including fridge, freezer, dishwasher and oven. There is a ceramic electric hob and plenty of worktop space, along with all the kitchenware you'll need for your slow-paced holiday breakfast!
The living room is spacious and light with two sofas, smart TV with freesat and streaming platforms, and double patio doors leading out to the conservatory. This sunny room overlooks the garden and makes a great space for morning coffees, afternoon naps, or poring over the OS map to find your way to that hidden beach.
The bedrooms are light and airy, with the master having a king-size bed and the second room having two singles. The bathroom is fully tiled and contemporary in style, with a shower enclosure with rainfall showerhead, heated towel rail, basin and close-coupled toilet. There is a bed-rail available for use if needed.
Outside, the garden wraps around most of the apartment and is accessed by the french doors off the conservatory. There is a small patio area with garden furniture, great for sitting out and enjoying the quiet still evenings after your day of fresh sea air.
There is private driveway parking for one car, and free on-street parking available along Fore Street as well.
Locally, Polgooth has a well-stocked village shop with local produce, and an award-winning dog friendly pub, The Polgooth Inn. There is even a fresh fish van on a Saturday morning selling the catch straight from the boats.
Mevagissey, Cornwall's second largest fishing port, is approx a 10 minute drive away with a lovely range of independent shops and cafes. The historic port of Charlestown, known for its tallships and famed as a popular film set, is also only a 10 minute drive.
The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and the Caerhays Estate are all within a 20 minute drive, along with plenty of beautiful beaches and coves on The Roseland Peninsula.
The South West Coast Path can be picked up at Porthpean or Trenarren, and the North Cornwall coast is roughly 14 miles away, meaning Newquay and Padstow are also within easy reach.
Book directly through Finest Retreats and start looking forward to your next break away in Cornwall.

Beautiful winter garden in the living room. Friendly landlords who live right next door and have a dog themselves. The village shop, which is within walking distance, is well stocked.

Unfortunately, the oven was very dirty, both the trays and the rack. We only used it to bake bread rolls using baking paper. The house is not easy to find and is far from St. Austell.

The hosts were warm and friendly. After a long journey we appreciated the welcome tray and the updates by the hosts about entry. The property was very comfortable, a new well equipped kitchen and a new bathroom. The conservatory was an added bonus used by all the family. Polgooth is everything you can wish for with a village shop and a lovely pub both within walking distance. I would recommend this property.

Modern and functional kitchen for a short stay accommodation. The house was warm and comfortable and the area is very quiet. Our hosts couldn't do enough for us and we felt very welcomed. There is a pub walking distant away however the pub food is only fair. There are heaps of restaurants a short drive away that are excellent. The Kingswood Restaurant is only 5 minutes drive away and is very good. St Austell is nearby so everything that you need is close without the noise and rush of a town.

The WiFi was reasonably fast but we had a few instances where it stopped working for a short time. There is no mobile phone reception if you are with Vodafone but despite Vodafone advertising that they have 99% coverage, Vodafone coverage anywhere in Cornwall is patchy at best.

Nothing really except that there is novery weak mobile network service in the area but there is In-house wifi service. Some noise from upstairs when the owners have visitors

Comfy and well equipped. Owners who lived adjacent were very helpful with identifying place for evening meal and dog friendly beaches (also how to use the TV).
