Accommodation
Description
Islip Mill House is a Grade II listed riverside retreat, beautifully nestled alongside the River Nene. It's the ideal choice for friends-and-family get-togethers with its fantastically proportioned rooms to accommodate up to eight guests for a waterside stay away.
Islip Mill House and attached Mill date back from the middle of the 18th Century. The property has evolved over time to present a comfortable and versatile family setting with plenty of character. Enjoy the beautiful riverside gardens overlooking the mill stream where Kingfishers, swans and even an otter can frequently be spotted on the river.
The accommodation is set over two floors, with four king size bedrooms. Many of the rooms enjoy a river or garden view and those that do not, enjoy views over the neighbouring countryside. The ground floor is entered via the Kitchen, boasting an impressive oil-fired Aga to cook up a storm in the winter evenings, in addition to everything else you should need in this fully equipped kitchen. The Aga is turned off in the warmer months. An arch opens to lead through to the breakfast room, where you can enjoy family dining with dual aspect garden and river views.
Unwind next to the cosy fireplace through to the dining area for relaxed eating experience for you and your guests. The drawing room lies adjacent and has a window overlooking the river and mill, with inviting fireplace and French windows opening to the riverside terrace. The family/snug room, with a bay window over-looking the front garden enjoys plenty of light and electric fire to make cosy on those chilly evenings.
An addition fridge freezer is available in the conservatory also. Guests will also have access to the boot room and a downstairs WC.
The stairs from the dining room lead to the second floor of the house. Guests have access to four bedrooms, one with an en-suite (including an amusingly quirky alcove bathtub). A large family bathroom with large shower, WC and basin.
Booking Conditions:
- No smoking
- Pet Friendly! We welcome well behaved guests and their pets.
- The property is annexed and one extremity of the building may be occupied, but remains completely cut off from guest areas, including the exterior / gardens.
- Short stay guests welcomed, a maximum of 7 nights.

An absolutely fantastic location and a really historical property. Lots of creaky and wonky floorboards! Lovely furniture throughout. I would not class the beds as large king size, one was but the other three were doubles! Could have done with the hairs being removed from plug holes upstairs. Well equipped kitchen, two living rooms, two dining areas. Stock in the kitchen so able to wash up, used the dishwasher which was helpful. Hoovered through when leaving as lots of leaves everywhere, also was scared of extra charge :-( Really lovely property, would recommend. Don't look for spiders! Plenty of parking for numerous cars.

It's a beautiful house set in wonderful grounds, and there was lots to entertain the children with the swans on the river outside and all the stuffed animals inside! The bedrooms were spacious, clean and comfortable (with great beds!) and the walk-in shower of the bathroom was a real pleasure to use. We arrived late on Friday eve, and were incredibly touched and grateful to find bread, milk, bacon and sausages already in the fridge when we woke up the next morning. One of our best ever finds on Airbnb - we're already wondering when we can return!!

The generous welcome gift, including cava, fruits, and a well-stocked fridge, was a lovely touch. Julian is an excellent host, attentive and thoughtful. We hope the water recedes soon and the place returns to its full beauty. We would love to return in the future!

A small sign indicating that the door next to the keybox is NOT the front door would be useful, or maybe a note asking people to go round the back.

It was so peaceful sitting on the patio by the water in the morning with a cup of coffee. Fantastic walks close by around the countryside and lakes. The local pub was lovely and within walking distance (20-30 mins) offering a variety of meals. None of us wanted to leave. Would highly recommend.

I had an absolutely fantastic stay! Julian was very friendly, hospitable and welcoming and the house is stunning with an amazing garden which was enclosed, so perfect for my dog to roam around safely. A peaceful getaway with gorgeous walks along Nene Way right on the doorstep. I’d definitely return and I’d recommend it to everyone!

Julian the owner is the most personable kind man you can imagine and he has put together your place to stay very well, it’s got everything you need. The place is super calm, beautiful and the grass at the back is gorgeous. He allows and loves dogs. Truly a great stay.

We had a wonderful family holiday. We really loved the house - it had everything we needed. The kitchen was well stocked and mum even found some cheese sauce sachets stocked in the cupboards which she needed for cooking. We went on nice walks and my niece loved looking at the fish in the pond. Truly lovely house.
