Accommodation
Description
Court Cottage is a charming 180-year-old cottage set in the heart of a North Devon village; it sleeps five people in three bedrooms. The cottage is full of character but with all the modern requirements for a cosy stay. Dogs are very welcome here as it's well suited with the enclosed south facing garden, which looks out towards the village's church spire in one direction and the rolling countryside in the other.
Walking into the spacious hallway through the front door, the kitchen/diner leads off in one direction and the cosy living room in the other. The kitchen has all the appliances and amenities required to cook up a feast on your self-catering holiday including a Nespresso coffee machine, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and large fridge/freezer. The kitchen has a large farmhouse kitchen table to gather round for your meals.
Guests will love the comfortable living room with its garden views, wide window seats and inglenook fireplace. With a working log burner, guests can enjoy the warmth during the autumn and winter nights. The main TV has an Amazon Fire-stick for guests to use, DVD player and various board games. There is also BT Fibre Broadband and a DAB digital radio.
The three bedrooms and family bathroom can be found upstairs. All of them enjoy garden and countryside views. They have been tastefully decorated and come with luxury white linens. The master bedroom enjoys a king-sized bed and has plenty of storage, along with the benefit of a TV which guests can enjoy during lazy morning lie-ins.
The second bedroom can be arranged either as two singles or as a super-king sized double while the third bedroom is a good sized single.
The family bathroom has a separate bath and power shower which makes it ideal for young families. All bed linens and towels are provided.
Court Cottage is perfectly situated for guests to enjoy both Devon's Northern coastline and its beautiful countryside. West Buckland is a pretty, rural village surrounded by rolling countryside. Exmoor National Park is only a stone's-throw to the East while Devon's famous beaches are a short hop in the other direction. Saunton Sands is a dog-friendly sandy beach that welcomes dogs 365 days of the year. Woolacombe beach, which is further round the coast, is also a wonderful stretch of coastline and ideal for walking on all year round and for sun-bathing in the summer.
There is free, on-street parking next to the cottage, as well as a permit to park in the village hall car park opposite the cottage if you prefer.
The cottage is very dog-friendly with an unlimited number of dogs allowed to stay free of charge. Guests are respectfully asked to bring their own throws to cover the beds if your dog must sleep upstairs. Dogs are not to be left unattended at any time during your stay. There are also 2 very large, 1 large and 1 medium dog crates provided to save you having to bring yours. Please note we can only accept XL Bully dogs to stay if they have an Certificate of Exemption.

My finest retreats stay at this lovely accommodation was work related so served its purpose for being clean and easy to access due to only being a 20 min commute from my site.

Did not like having to walk through the next door garden to reach the property, but it was a small inconvenience and did not spoil the holiday.

Beds were comfortable, bedding and towels really clean. Scones on arrival were very welcome. Would we stay there again? Definitely.

Would be nice if we had known just what equipment was included like a hairdryer so we didn't carry extra stuff. Agent obviously didn't pass on requirements after asking us if we had any.

We absolutely loved the garden, it was totally secure for our 2 small dogs and also beautiful for us to sit in
The village was very quiet, so nothing for our nervous dog to bark at. The other side of this is that there are no facilities in the village. However, Barnstaple had everything we needed and more. The beautiful coast is only 25mins drive away and well worth the visit to Saunton Sands and Lynmouth and Lynton. The cottage was roomy and had so many items that made it a home and not a bare holiday cottage. We like to cook at home and we found every utensil possible we could need. There is no driveway for this cottage, but we found this no problem as we parked right outside the gate all week. Afternoon tea had been left for our arrival and this was a lovely touch. |

Uncomfortable beds Damp issue Lack of fans We both found the beds uncomfortable and the pillows flat and came home with backache. A couple of good mattress toppers would solve this and decent pillows. It was a humid week and we were both very hot at night, some fans would be good. The other thing is the damp in the kitchen, this is very bad under the radiator and by the back door (especially when raining), it smelt of damp in the kitchen too. |

Excellent cottage in a small village within Devon. The cottage was spotless and had everything you needed to get settled in for you stay. Ideal for dog owners as the garden was perfect as well as the surrounding areas for Walks. 15mins from the main town of Barnstable and 25/30mins from the beaches. Would highly recommend this place for people wanting the peaceful countryside, but close enough to all the local attractions.
