Description
Oak House is a modern spacious eco-house in an idyllic setting in a woodland glade in Tealby near Market Rasen with open views over the Lincolnshire Wolds.
This property combines character with modern comforts. The comfortable sitting room has a high apex cathedral ceiling with a mezzanine floor housing the 4 poster en-suite bedroom, with expansive glass floor-to-ceiling windows, throwing plenty of light and wonderful views over open countryside to the hills.
Three steps up, lead into a contemporary white kitchen with a ceramic tiled floor, large fridge/freezer and brightly coloured dining chairs and table. There are two other spacious and individually styled bedrooms and a bathroom located on the first floor, and a ground floor shower/wet room. Each bedroom has its own TV, and chromecast offering the flexibility to suit all family needs.
Outside, the enclosed lawned garden has a private hot tub (AVAILABLE IN JULY AND AUGUST ONLY), ideal for relaxing in with a glass of wine whilst admiring the panoramic vistas.
Oak House is only a short distance from Market Rasen which is a bustling market town standing on the western edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. The town is popular with walkers and cyclists and there are great routes and trails criss-crossing the surrounding area. Guests can start their walks from the door of Oak House through the woodland, and across the road is a popular walk to Tealby and Walesby villages along the ridge of the Lincolnshire Wolds. A mountain biking track is half a mile away from Oak House via an off-road track.
Market Rasen High Street is home to independent shops and businesses. You will find traditional and long-standing family run shops including ironmongers, butchers, menswear confectionery, haberdashery and gift shops. The town boasts plenty of high-quality and award-winning places to eat.
The village of Tealby is about 30 minutes’ walk away from Oak house and Chestnut Cottage. There you will find the Kings Head pub-, the oldest thatched pub in Lincolnshire; and three must -visit Tealby tearooms with its quaint setting, and delightful afternoon teas. Or walk over to Walesby, home of All Saints 'Ramblers' Church. This iconic medieval church overlooks the village on the Viking Way. The view from the church is quite spectacular and inside is a beautiful stained glass window, depicting walkers and cyclists.

Great location that is set in quiet woodland area with easy access to the viking way and walking routes to Market rasen and Tealby all accessible.
Well worth visiting woodland pines park for high ropes, crazy golf, high ropes and zip lines. Also see more

Well worth visiting woodland pines park for high ropes, crazy golf, high ropes and zip lines. Also the kings head in Tealby. A trip to Louth and Cleethorpes are well worth it. The bluetooth speaker and audio in the rooms was nice to have access to. The owner was kind enough to allow use of their EV charger and have an honesty box to contribute to the cost that made charging easy. I also charged at the leisure centre in nearby Market Rasen. On the mezzanine you get woken early by the sun light coming through and great views across the fields, if you prefer a lay in bring yourself an eyemask. |

On arrival the cleanliness of the house was below par with sides dusty and bits on the floor. A more thorough clean is needed between visits. There was a gtech vacuum in the accommodation and I cleaned out the blocked filters and hoovered around to pickup the worst of it. The vents in the bathroom were blocked up with fluff and there were a few areas where an occasional deeper clean is needed.
The house was clearly built to a high standard but is now looking tired and would benefit from maintenance and a refresh as there are quite a few loose floor tiles, sticking doors and the external doors are difficult to lock. |

Hello Greg,
Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed your time and were able to explore the surrounding area to find lots of exciting ways to spend your time such as the zip wire and the high ropes. I hope being surrounded by such beautiful scenery and the sunrise was in both parts therapeutic as it was captivating. Thank you for your feedback regarding the cleaning we will certainly investigate this further. |
