Description
Tucked away in amongst the historic streets of Mevagissey town is Old Harbour Cottage, a gloriously stylish retreat with wonderful character and a cosy welcoming feel. With an unbeatable location just a few minutes walk from the harbourfront and beautiful decor to enjoy around you, this is the ultimate choice for a luxury seaside escape.
Inside, the kitchen-dining space is finished to a very high standard with chic cabinetry and integrated appliances. There is electric oven and hob, fridge with freezer space, washer/dryer, plus all the utensils and kitchenware you will need to perfect your favourite holiday recipes. There is also a highchair available for use if needed.
On the first floor, the main living room enjoys an elevated view over the streets below, with a generous corner sofa, smart TV and an electric feature fireplace, perfect for relaxing after a day of adventures and sea air.
There is also a fully tiled luxury shower room on this level, with double walk-in shower enclosure, basin and WC.
On the second floor are both bedrooms, continuing the high end finish with stylish furniture and smart décor. The front bedroom has a king bed, plenty of storage and views out over the town, whilst the second bedroom has two full size single beds with the option to be attached together to create a super-king size if required. This bedroom is generously sized and has an en-suite offering a second shower enclosure, basin and WC.

There is an excellent selection of pubs, restaurants, cafes and independent shops offering homewares, prints and paintings, clothing, gifts and much more.
There are some of the south coast’s most stunning beaches within easy reach of Old Harbour Cottage, including Pentewan Sands, Vault Beach at Gorran Haven and Porthpean. The Lost Gardens of Heligan are within a 15 minute drive, and the world-famous Eden Project is roughly 20 mins away.

It was easy to walk into Mevagissey Harbour with all of its shops and amenities, as well as lovely walks. I was worried about parking but it was easy, maybe due to the time of year. The cottage was clean and nicely decorated. We had a relaxing stay.

The showers weren't great - heating was hard to control. Neighbours very noisy at night. No hand towels, no oven glove, and only one tea towel.

The location of the property was fantastic. Only a 2 minute walk into the harbour. Property was mostly very clean throughout and had modern fixtures and fittings with a rustic decor bringing out the old fisherman's cottage style

Some out of date eggs and milk in fridge, advised to put rubbish in black bin bags but non provided and not advised to bring our own was unclear where we should have put the rubbish when leaving (states bins oppersite property but was non) Cleaner was still in the property when we arrived after the 4pm check in time. The beds had not been made as requested in the top room into a super king. Just a few details that had been over looked and for the price it shouldnt have been. |

Perfect location, nice house that contained everything we needed for a lovely few days in Mevagissey. The beds and bedding were very good and two bathrooms were extra luxurious.

We arrived to a dirty house as the cleaner hadn’t turned up . The Air b&b and finest retreats worked together to get this remedied for next morning and clean linen arrived at 9pm . The property was quite awkward as two flights of stairs and living room on second floor . We weren’t aware of the extent of the steepness of the stairs . My husband found it difficult .

The cottage is wonderfully centrally located and, with two bedrooms, offers sufficient comfort for a family of four. We found the two bathrooms to be an additional luxury. The house is well equipped and has very good WiFi reception. You can see that the house has been decorated with lovely little details that give the cottage a great charm (such as the natural stone walls). We didn't have to forego any living comfort, which we especially realized when we used the "washer-dryer"! The fact that we were in the middle of town in just a few steps and had a great café practically next door that served delicious cream tea, absolutely rounded off our stay at the Old Harbour Cottage.

If you are staying by car, you should also bear in mind that a 24-hour parking ticket now costs €8. We would have liked more than one tea towel in the towel package (for four people), as the towel package was very sparse overall.

A fantastic place to stay! Perfect location, right in the heart of Mevagissy but also easy access to lots of local attractions. The cottage is quaint, homely and finished to a high standard. You do need to be ok on steep stairs but its worth it. The bathrooms were clean and well laid out, showers were very good. Beds were comfy, lounge felt really homely with the modern and efficient electric fire (lovely just with the flame effect going). Kitchen was well equiped and you could easily cook a full meal. We would love to stay again

Overall, the Old Harbour Cottage was great for our family of 4 and a dog. It's in a great location, and we were able to explore the coastline surrounding Mevagissey, and loved all the shops, cafes and restaurants in Mevagissey. There were a few housekeeping glitches when we arrived and Finest Retreats dealt with them quickly and professionally. The cottage is fairly functional, no frills and was a good base for us. It is a small, cute fishermans cottage - so be prepared for narrow stairs, low ceilings and not a lot of space. But we were out for most of the week so it didn't really bother us. The supplies available at the cottage were pretty sparse - we had to re-stock loo roll, washing up liquid, bin bags on day 3 which was a bit of a pain. There is also a washing machine which was useful after a day at the beach, but no washing powder/tablets so we had to go and buy those too. There was also no dishcloth, only a scourer so had to go and buy that too! Not a problem if we'd known - we would have bought our own, just a pain to have to keep going to the local shop for basics. I would recommend, just stock up on housekeeping basics and you won't be inconvenienced.
