Description
Tucked away at the end of a quiet lane is this tranquil and picturesque getaway, perfect for a break away to enjoy the surrounding countryside and the Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, all with the convenience of having Blackburn and Preston close at hand if needed.
Located within the grounds of the owners properties, the building would have originally been stables before they were sympathetically converted to a very high standard, retaining plenty of character whilst offering modern home comforts for a high-end luxury holiday at any time of year.
Downstairs, a light and spacious open-plan living area welcomes you, with comfortable sofa and armchair, smart TV, and the log-burner making a lovely feature in the space. An initial basket of logs are provided for you, so you can get that cosy glow straightaway! The kitchen and dining area are immaculate and very well equipped, with everything you need to create your favourite holiday meals, including dishwasher, fridge-freezer, full oven and hob, dishwasher, microwave, kettle and toaster. . There is also a washing machine for convenience if needed.
Upstairs, there are 2 separate bedrooms both with tasteful and stylish décor. The master has a super king-size bed, ample storage and a views out over the fields. The second bedroom offers great flexibility, with a full size single bed, and then the option of having an extra trundle bed if required, suitable to sleep a child. The bathroom is smart and modern, being fully tiled with a very generous sized walk-in shower enclosure complete with a large rainfall showerhead, basin and WC.
Outside, there is an open courtyard area to the front, and ample private parking for up to 2 cars nearby.
Locally there is a pub and a shop within walking distance for convenience, and also plenty more amenities close at hand within a few miles drive. The historic market towns of Clitheroe and Longridge are both within easy reach, offering a delightful selection of independent shops, cafes, restaurants and attractions. Other local attractions include Clitheroe Castle, Bowland Wild Boar Park, Browsholme Hall, and Blackpool, which is under an hour’s drive away.
If you want to immerse yourself in the countryside, there are multiple footpaths nearby giving you the option to have a leisurely walk right from the door and explore the rural area. There is also the Ribble Way, a 70 mile long stretch of beautiful scenery that can be picked up in several different locations. The Mellor Millennium Viewpoint is also very close by, and is a great spot to take in the far-reaching views on a clear day.

Otherwise, everything worked perfectly. We haven't been in Summer but the surrounding area is lovely. Very responsive to my questions before arriving.

Due to the high rainfall the farmers fields above the cottage had a constant stream of groundwater making the 30m walk from parking to the cottage challenging to say the least but this did not affect our absolute pleasure in our choice

1) The staircase was dangerous -uncarpeted stairs and insufficient handrails 2) Toilet seat was broken - and an inadequate repair meant that the owners were aware of this 3) no downstairs WC unacceptable in accommodation of this price/quality

A beautifully clean and well appointed cottage which, at the end of the lane, is nicely remote, and wonderfully quiet. That said it is just a 10 minute walk from the warm, friendly pub, serving breakfast, morning coffee, lunch and dinner with great views and sunsets from the outside terrace. What’s not to like?! We especially enjoyed our trips up Pendle Hill (the views from the top are fantastic) and Samlesbury Hall (free to visit Tudor house plus Cafe serving good food). Thanks to Finest Retreats for organising a second bed to be put in the small bedroom that allowed us to see our daughter and grandson for a couple of days it was very much appreciated.

We had a lovely week-long stay in Mellor! The house is great - super clean with a well-equipped kitchen and a very comfy bed. The area is very quiet and the host left lots of information about local walks and restaurants which gave us lots to do. I would definitely recommend it for a relaxing trip away.
