Description
West Cottage is a beautiful traditional Cornish cottage with fresh light décor and a refined yet characterful feel. Ideally located in the peaceful village of Goldsithney just a few minutes drive from the stunning beach of Perranuthnoe, and only a mile and a half from Marazion, guests will have some of Cornwall’s most picturesque scenery close at hand.
The cottage offers spacious accommodation, with separate living room, dining room and kitchen. There are also two double bedrooms, two shower rooms and an enclosed garden and patio area.
Entering through the wrought iron gate at the side of the cottage there is a useful internal porch and utility area with washing machine, great for storing shoes, jackets and beach gear. There is also a convenient downstairs shower room adjacent to the utility, with large shower enclosure, basin and WC.
Continuing through into the living room, there are two large windows looking out into the garden, making this a bright and sunny space. With two generously sized sofas and television, it’s perfect for relaxing after a long day of fresh sea air!
The kitchen is well equipped with all the amenities you will need, including double oven and ceramic hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, toaster, microwave and kettle. The dining room sits at the heart of the cottage, and is a charming space to enjoy meals and socialise, with a round dining table to comfortably seat four.
Upstairs, the bedrooms are both light and airy, each with a double bed and plenty of storage space. There are stunning views from the master bedroom out over the countryside, perfect for enjoying a cup of tea in bed in the morning!
The upstairs bathroom also has shower enclosure with basin and WC.
Outside in the main garden area, there is a large patio with table and chairs suitable for outside dining, and a fully enclosed lawned area, ideal for pets. Guests also have access to a smaller patio area off the kitchen which is separate to the main garden. There is a small driveway offering parking for one small to medium sized car, however any larger or second cars can park on the road.
The village of Goldsithney is picturesque and peaceful, and the centre of the village is a conservation area. There are two pubs, a shop and post office, all within easy walking distance of the cottage. Locally, there are plenty of beautiful places to explore – as well as Perranuthnoe, the other closest beaches are Prussia Cove, Praa Sands and Rinsey, all within a 10 minute drive.
The coastal town of Marazion has a lovely waterfront with beaches either side and a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes. St Michael's Mount, sitting proudly out in Mounts Bay is not to be missed, now looked after by National Trust and accessible by foot at low tide, with a passenger ferry service once the causeway is underwater.
Going west along the coast you will find the historic town of Penzance, the quaint and largely untouched village of Mousehole with it's sheltered harbour, and the world famous Minack Theatre, a unique open-air theatre built into the cliff edge in the early 20th Century. Going east, Porthleven is only a short distance, and is fast becoming one of Cornwall’s most desirable places to visit.
The north coast is also easily accessible, with the picturesque town of St Ives being only 10 or so miles away. Offering restaurants, pubs and cafe's galore, independent shops and the stunning harbour framed by golden beaches, it is one of many places not to be missed in this varied and beautiful part of Cornwall.

Myself, my partner and 2 children (under 2) stayed here for 1 week, we found the property to be excellent for space for our family. The garden space outside was very welcome for when young children needed to burn off steam. The property it self was very clean and well organized. The bedrooms upstairs were very spacious for small families. The kitchen was beautiful and very well maintained often we have found that kitchens are somewhat impractical with missing utensils etc. but this kitchen had everything - really good! Local amenities are also good, we would recommend the Trevelyan pub - and make sure you visit the Teacups Cafe, wow - food was stunning! Overall we enjoyed our stay here and would look to stay again.

The main improvement required, would be a handrail on the entrance staircase. With 2 young children, we did struggle getting down the stairs whilst carrying our children and opening the bottom gate. I would say this is definitely needed. Although I have mentioned the accommodation was very clean, unfortunately we found that every time our young children crawled on the floor, they would get a smear of 'black' on their knees or clothes. I can forgive most of this as the rest of the accommodation in carpeted areas was very clean, but just a bit disappointing that the floors were a little dirty. With small children, we also would have welcome a bath in the property, but I understand this isn't a priority for all visitors. Lastly, the amount of actions required by the visitors upon leaving, there seemed to be quite a lot of 'To Do's' prior to leaving and it did seem a little daunting. We've stayed at Goldsithney for the past 7 years and haven't had the extent of actions to do in other properties as we did here. This wasn't a huge problem, but something we noted whilst staying there.

Hi Abigail,
Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you had such a lovely stay and were able to enjoy your time relaxing in the garden whilst your children blew off steam as well as exploring the nearby amenities such as enjoying fantastic food at the Teacups Café. This property doesn't have a bath as you can see from the property description so if this is something that is important to you it is worth enquiring before your stay. I will pass on your comments regarding a handrail. Thank you once again. |

Lovely comfortable cottage in great location for driving to lots of areas of South Cornwall. You can walk into Marazion via a footpath accessed just after the traffic calming before you exit the village in direction of Marazion. Village shop only short walk has good supply of stock and two pubs in village but check if serving food and what times if you’re heading there for that reason. Also fairly frequent bus runs to Marazion and further.
