Description
Quails Nest Cottage is a newly built holiday let, completed in 2019 with some stunning views out over the Northumbrian countryside. The property is pet-friendly and with plenty of walks from the doorstep is an ideal location for families, couples and walkers. With the nearest beach only 10 miles away, it's also ideal for those wanting the mix of a coastal and country retreat.
The cottage is open-plan which maximises the space and light throughout. Guests arrive in to the large kitchen-living area with the dining table around to the side. The kitchen comes equipped with all the amenities required for a comforrtable self-catering stay away while the log burner in the living room adds to the ambience during the cooler autumn and winter evenings. There is underfloor heating throughout.
The master bedroom has a king size bed with an en suite with a bath with shower over and an electric towel heater. The second bedroom is a twin room, also with its own en suite with a stunning walk-in shower and electric towel heater.
Inside the rear entrance is a very handy utility room with a washing machine, ironing board and clothes dryer which is ideal for stripping off the wet & muddy clothes after a day in the country or on the beach.
Outside, the stunning views from the terrace and outdoor furniture make it a perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset of an evening. The garden is enclosed which makes it ideal for those with pets and/or small children. There is private off-road parking for 2 cars.
Edlingham is a small hamlet approximately six miles southwest of the popular tourist town of Alnwick. Despite it's small size, there is plenty of historical interest and plenty of footpaths dotted around. The medieval church of St John the Baptist is well worth a visit while
beside the church is the striking ruin of 13th-century Edlingham Castle. Much of it is in ruin, but the striking solar tower still rises to a considerable height. Just behind the castle runs an imposing Victorian-era viaduct, which dominates the green valley.

Although we are elderly there were lovely walks easily managed by us and the ancient castle and church near by within walking distance. Plenty more beautiful walks from the door step for the more adventurous! Fabulous views from the property and garden. Rosie and John are the perfect hosts. Simply the best holiday we've ever had.

The view from the front of the property is outstanding. The peace and quiet is mesmerising. The cottage is a delight. The hosts are friendly. Location is perfect. 10 minutes from door to parking in Alnwick, which is a lovely town with a huge castle.

This relatively new cottage with all modern conveniences is located in a very small village up in the moors that provides a unique experience with a gorgeous view from your living room and bedroom. Your hosts are next door and very helpful: Rosie responds via email immediately. But they value your privacy and do not intrude. It is also well located for accessing all the major Northumberland places you will want to visit. Highly recommended.

John the owner was such a lovely man and went over and beyond making us 2 cakes and bringing them round. His stories were great. The cottage was in idyllic surroundings.

The views from the lounge, overlooking the valley with rolling hills and forests, were just stunning and the cottage was ideally located for hill walking. The cottage is near the town of Alnwick, with its great castle and renowned gardens. The Northumberland coast, with its famous castles, was easily accessible. The hosts Rosemary and John were very inviting and we would like to thank them for making our stay so comforting and relaxing. We would certainly stay at Quails Nest again. |

Quail's Nest Cottage is a cosy cottage with all the mod cons of a new build property. The cottage was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated. Some lovely touches make this property a premium stay including a log burner (not that you need it as the underfloor heating makes it very toasty), gorgeous walk in shower, a large kitchen and a handy utility area. Rosie the owner was very welcoming and was happy to answer any questions and provide local knowledge. This is a dog friendly property and my dog was well catered for with towels, bowl etc. The property is set in a very peaceful hamlet with lovely views and access to walks. It is conveniently situated for beach walks along the Northumberland coast and is only 10 mins drive from Alnwick. There are also some lovely forest walks nearby at Thrunton Woods. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for quality accommodation in a peaceful setting with convenient access to outdoor activities and local towns.

I stayed in this beautiful house for the whole of December '22, and it was wonderful. Warm, comfortable, and very well-equipped with everything anyone would need for a holiday. Rosie and John are perfect hosts close-by if needed for anything, but not intrusive in any way. Edlingham is a tiny hamlet with the most incredible, interrupted, views from the house, and the castle ruins and the tiny church are lovely. The wider area has so much to do and see Craster is only 20 minutes drive, Beadnell and Bamburgh only a little further away. Alnwick has most of the major supermarkets and lots of lovely independent shops - we particularly love the pet shop! Can't wait to visit again.
