Description
Wye Head Cottage is a beautifully appointed, cosy cottage in the heart of Buxton and an ideal base from which to explore the Peak District National Park. The cottage perfectly mixes the characterful features with contemporary styling and modern fixtures and fittings in order to create a fabulous home from home.
The cottage sleeps four people in two double bedrooms and there is ample off-road parking for two cars.
Walking in through the handy porch area, guests are greeting by the incredibly inviting, large living room to one side and the dining and kitchen area to the other. The large fireplaces, exposed brick walls and exposed beams help provide a sense of splendour. The log burning stoves are the perfect way to keep warm in the cooler Autumn and Winter months, while in the summer the patio doors off the dining room can be opened wide and guests can enjoy the private, landscaped garden.
The kitchen is well stocked with all the appliances one would require to cook up a feast and even has an integrated wine cooler to keep the bubbly the perfect temperature.
Up the wooden staircase are the two bedrooms and family bathroom. The master bedroom has a king sized bed, exposed beams and garden views. The family bathroom has a separate walk in shower and free-standing bath so guests can enjoy a long soak to unwind while on holiday.
Wye Head Cottage is located in the old market and spa town of Buxton which is surrounded by the Derbyshire hills at a height of over 1000ft, making it the highest town in England. There is plenty of local attractions and things to do, making Buxton a great place to spend a some time away. The cottage is only a six minute pleasant walk into town, through the park and all on the flat.
With its stunning ornamental gardens and world-famous Georgian and Victorian architecture, it provides an impressive backdrop to a rich and vibrant range of music, theatre and festivals which occur regularly throughout the year. Guests can also enjoy wealth of independent shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, natural wonders such as Poole’s Cavern, relaxing spas, attractions such as Buxton Opera House, Go Ape, Buxton Raceway and two golf courses. There really is something to suit everyone.
The Peak District National Park is one of the finest parts of the UK and popular with tourists and adventure-seekers all the year round. Whether you’re looking for walking routes, seeking adrenaline thrills or want to find a cosy pub serving local ales, the pretty villages, vast hills and pristine lakes offer so many opportunities for memorable days out.
Please note that charging of an electric vehicle is not permitted at this property.

More normal sized mugs for tea would be useful. Some bin bags available would have been good as previous people hadn’t used them so I had to clean the inside of the bin out as it was really smelly and horrid. Shame the doors upstairs are really noisysee more

We arrived during an unusually cold spell in June and needed the heating on to take the chill off the place but it was hard to find the instructions and being a weekend emergency only calls were acceptable.

Beautiful cottage, really well equipped. Lovely welcome pack of milk, bubbles and a Christmas panettone - a lot of effort had gone into making us feel right at home.

We had a most enjoyable stay at this will furnished and extremely clean cottage. The accommodation was very comfortable and the kitchen was well equipped with all the utensils and appliances you require. The cottage is well positioned for easy walking access into the centre of Buxton or onto the adjacent hills. We would highly recommend this property for a short or long term stay and would certainly consider coming back in the future.

This is a really well equipped holiday cottage, very comfortable and charming. If you like cooking the kitchen has everything you need including oil, seasoning and plenty of cleaning gear. There were enough dishwasher tablets for one wash a day - one of many considerate touches which showed the owners really thought about their guests' needs. The garden is very nice although the sofa set shown in the photos is no longer there. We really appreciated the treats that had been left for us. Plus the full log basket was a real treat which we made full use of.
In short this felt like staying in someone's very well appointed home and I would definitely return. |

Would be helpful to have instructions for the electric "log burner " in the dining room in the information pack.
A pair of kitchen tongs was the only bit of equipment I missed but would be handy.
Other than that it is perfect.

The cottage was beautiful and as described. Communication before arrival was good. Location was great and as we took our dog it was so handy having two paths right next to the cottage which led to the lovely park and Buxton town centre. The centre had a nice selection of shops and plenty of pubs (most of which were dog friendly). Also visited Bakewell, Chatsworth House and Matlock Bath all within a 35min drive of Buxton and worth a visit. The only negative about the cottage was that the grass in the lovely garden hadn’t been mown but this did not ruin our stay. Would highly recommend this accommodation.

Self catering, a very well equipped cottage, cosy and comfy. All mod cons. Very spacious and well set out. Lovely enclosed, private garden. Good bedrooms and luxury bathroom with separate shower cubicle. Plenty of car parking.
